Builds same-origin links of a chosen total length and sends them through the proxy.
Each link targets /urltest, which returns 200 with the byte count it received.
If the proxy rejects the URL (e.g. squid returns 400 Invalid URL for any absolute URL
≥ its compiled MAX_URL of 8192 bytes) the request never reaches caesium and the browser
shows the proxy's error instead. Open a link, then confirm: a caesium 200 means it
passed; a proxy 4xx means it was rejected.
